Radeon RX 580X vs Radeon HD 7990 specs and performance
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark, the Radeon RX 580X GPU is faster than the Radeon HD 7990 in gaming.
In our comparison, the Radeon RX 580X has a slightly higher core clock speed. This is the frequency at which the graphics core is running at. While not necessarily an indicator of overall performance, this metric can be useful when comparing two GPUs based on the same architecture. In addition, the Radeon RX 580X also has a slightly higher boost clock speed: the maximum frequency the chip can reach if power delivery and thermals allow.
Furthermore, the spec sheet for both these GPUs show that the Radeon RX 580X has significantly more memory with 8 GiB of memory compared to 3 GiB. Memory size doesn't directly affect performance, but too little memory will certainly degrade gaming performance.
In addition, the Radeon RX 580X has a significantly lower TDP at 185 W when compared to the Radeon HD 7990 at 375 W. Heat output doesn't match power consumption directly but, it's a good estimate.
According to the results of the hardwareDB benchmark utility, the Radeon RX 580X is faster than the Radeon HD 7990.
