Radeon RX 580 vs Radeon HD 8490 benchmarks
For gaming, the Radeon RX 580 graphics card is better than the Radeon HD 8490 in our tests.
The Radeon RX 580 has a significantly higher core clock speed. This is the frequency at which the graphics core is running at. While not necessarily an indicator of overall performance, this metric can be useful when comparing two GPUs based on the same architecture.
Furthermore, the spec sheet for both these GPUs show that the Radeon RX 580 has significantly more memory with 8 GiB of memory compared to 1 GiB. Lots of memory is good when playing at high resolutions or with many monitors.
In addition, the Radeon HD 8490 has a significantly lower TDP at 35 W when compared to the Radeon RX 580 at 185 W. Heat output doesn't match power consumption directly but, it's a good estimate.
According to the results of the hardwareDB benchmark utility, the Radeon RX 580 is faster than the Radeon HD 8490.
