Radeon RX 5700 XT vs GeForce GTX 980 benchmarks
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark, the Radeon RX 5700 XT GPU is faster than the GeForce GTX 980 in gaming.
In our comparison, the Radeon RX 5700 XT has a slightly higher core clock speed. This is the frequency at which the graphics core is running at. While not necessarily an indicator of overall performance, this metric can be useful when comparing two GPUs based on the same architecture. In addition, the Radeon RX 5700 XT also has a significantly higher boost clock speed. This is a frequency that can be reached if the GPU is cooled sufficiently and has enough power.
Furthermore, the spec sheet for both these GPUs show that the Radeon RX 5700 XT has significantly more memory with 8 GiB of memory compared to 4 GiB. Lots of memory is good when playing at high resolutions or with many monitors.
In addition, the GeForce GTX 980 has a slightly lower TDP at 165 W when compared to the Radeon RX 5700 XT at 225 W. TDP (Thermal Design Power) measures total heat output from the chip.
In conclusion, all specs and GPU benchmarks considered, will recommend the Radeon RX 5700 XT over the GeForce GTX 980.
