Radeon RX 550X vs Radeon RX 640 specs and performance

For gaming, the Radeon RX 550X graphics card is better than the Radeon RX 640 in our tests.

In our comparison, the Radeon RX 550X has a slightly higher core clock speed. The core clock speed (or base speed) is the frequency at which the GPU core runs. This metric makes sense when comparing GPUs of a similar architecture or generation.

As stated by the manufacturer, they both have the same amount of memory at 4 GiB. Lots of memory is good when playing at high resolutions or with many monitors.

In addition, both the Radeon RX 550X and the Radeon RX 640 have an identical TDP. This is not a measure of performance, but rather the amount of heat generated by the chip when running at its highest speed.

In conclusion, all specs and GPU benchmarks considered, will recommend the Radeon RX 550X over the Radeon RX 640.
