Radeon RX 550X vs GeForce GT 720M benchmarks

For gaming, the Radeon RX 550X graphics card is better than the GeForce GT 720M in our tests.

In our comparison, the Radeon RX 550X has a significantly higher core clock speed. The core clock speed (or base speed) is the frequency at which the GPU core runs. This metric makes sense when comparing GPUs of a similar architecture or generation. In addition, the Radeon RX 550X also has a significantly higher boost clock speed: the maximum frequency the chip can reach if power delivery and thermals allow.

In addition, the GeForce GT 720M has a significantly lower TDP at 33 W when compared to the Radeon RX 550X at 50 W. Heat output doesn't match power consumption directly but, it's a good estimate.

In terms of raw gaming performance in our GPU benchmark, the Radeon RX 550X is better than the GeForce GT 720M.
