Radeon RX 470 vs Radeon RX 7700 XT specs and performance
In our benchmarks, the Radeon RX 7700 XT beats the Radeon RX 470 in gaming performance.
The Radeon RX 7700 XT has a significantly higher core clock speed. This is the frequency at which the graphics core is running at. While not necessarily an indicator of overall performance, this metric can be useful when comparing two GPUs based on the same architecture. In addition, the Radeon RX 7700 XT also has a significantly higher boost clock speed. The boost clock speed is the frequency that the GPU core can reach if the temperature is low enough. The allows for higher performance in certain scenarios.
As stated by the manufacturer, the Radeon RX 7700 XT has significantly more memory with 12 GiB of memory compared to 8 GiB. Lots of memory is good when playing at high resolutions or with many monitors.
In addition, the Radeon RX 470 has a significantly lower TDP at 120 W when compared to the Radeon RX 7700 XT at 245 W. Heat output doesn't match power consumption directly but, it's a good estimate.
In terms of raw gaming performance in our GPU benchmark, the Radeon RX 7700 XT is better than the Radeon RX 470.
