Radeon RX 470 vs Radeon RX 6800M benchmarks
In our benchmarks, the Radeon RX 6800M beats the Radeon RX 470 in gaming performance.
The Radeon RX 6800M has a significantly higher core clock speed. The core clock speed (or base speed) is the frequency at which the GPU core runs. This metric makes sense when comparing GPUs of a similar architecture or generation. In addition, the Radeon RX 6800M also has a significantly higher boost clock speed: the maximum frequency the chip can reach if power delivery and thermals allow.
Next up, in terms of GPU memory, the Radeon RX 6800M has significantly more memory with 12 GiB of memory compared to 8 GiB. Lots of memory is good when playing at high resolutions or with many monitors.
In addition, the Radeon RX 470 has a slightly lower TDP at 120 W when compared to the Radeon RX 6800M at 145 W. TDP (Thermal Design Power) measures total heat output from the chip.
In terms of raw gaming performance in our GPU benchmark, the Radeon RX 6800M is better than the Radeon RX 470.
