Radeon R9 390X vs GeForce RTX 5050 Laptop benchmarks
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark, the GeForce RTX 5050 Laptop GPU is faster than the Radeon R9 390X in gaming.
The Radeon R9 390X has a slightly higher core clock speed. The core clock speed (or base speed) is the frequency at which the GPU core runs. This metric makes sense when comparing GPUs of a similar architecture or generation. Despite this, the GeForce RTX 5050 Laptop has a much higher boost clock speed. The boost clock speed is the frequency that the GPU core can reach if the temperature is low enough. The allows for higher performance in certain scenarios.
In addition, the GeForce RTX 5050 Laptop has a significantly lower TDP at 50 W when compared to the Radeon R9 390X at 275 W. Heat output doesn't match power consumption directly but, it's a good estimate.
In conclusion, all specs and GPU benchmarks considered, will recommend the GeForce RTX 5050 Laptop over the Radeon R9 390X.
