Radeon R9 380 vs Radeon RX 5700 specs and performance

In our benchmarks, the Radeon RX 5700 beats the Radeon R9 380 in gaming performance.

In our comparison, the Radeon RX 5700 has a significantly higher core clock speed. This is the frequency at which the graphics core is running at. While not necessarily an indicator of overall performance, this metric can be useful when comparing two GPUs based on the same architecture. In addition, the Radeon RX 5700 also has a significantly higher boost clock speed. This is a frequency that can be reached if the GPU is cooled sufficiently and has enough power.

As stated by the manufacturer, the Radeon RX 5700 has significantly more memory with 8 GiB of memory compared to 4 GiB. Lots of memory is good when playing at high resolutions or with many monitors.

In addition, the Radeon RX 5700 has a slightly lower TDP at 180 W when compared to the Radeon R9 380 at 190 W. TDP (Thermal Design Power) measures total heat output from the chip.

In terms of raw gaming performance in our GPU benchmark, the Radeon RX 5700 is better than the Radeon R9 380.
