Radeon R9 380 vs Radeon RX 5500M benchmarks

In our benchmarks, the Radeon RX 5500M beats the Radeon R9 380 in gaming performance.

Our database shows that the Radeon RX 5500M has a slightly higher core clock speed. The core clock speed (or base speed) is the frequency at which the GPU core runs. This metric makes sense when comparing GPUs of a similar architecture or generation. In addition, the Radeon RX 5500M also has a significantly higher boost clock speed. This is a frequency that can be reached if the GPU is cooled sufficiently and has enough power.

Next up, in terms of GPU memory, they both have the same amount of memory at 4 GiB. Lots of memory is good when playing at high resolutions or with many monitors.

In addition, the Radeon RX 5500M has a significantly lower TDP at 85 W when compared to the Radeon R9 380 at 190 W. This is not a measure of performance, but rather the amount of heat generated by the chip when running at its highest speed.

In terms of raw gaming performance in our GPU benchmark, the Radeon RX 5500M is better than the Radeon R9 380.
