Radeon R9 280X vs Quadro P4200 benchmarks
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark, the Quadro P4200 GPU is faster than the Radeon R9 280X in gaming.
The Quadro P4200 has a significantly higher core clock speed. This is the frequency at which the graphics core is running at. While not necessarily an indicator of overall performance, this metric can be useful when comparing two GPUs based on the same architecture.
Next up, in terms of GPU memory, the Quadro P4200 has significantly more memory with 8 GiB of memory compared to 3 GiB. Memory size doesn't directly affect performance, but too little memory will certainly degrade gaming performance.
In addition, the Quadro P4200 has a significantly lower TDP at 100 W when compared to the Radeon R9 280X at 250 W. Heat output doesn't match power consumption directly but, it's a good estimate.
In conclusion, all specs and GPU benchmarks considered, will recommend the Quadro P4200 over the Radeon R9 280X.
