Radeon R7 260X vs Radeon RX 550X specs and performance

In our benchmarks, the Radeon R7 260X beats the Radeon RX 550X in gaming performance.

By comparing the spec sheets, both the Radeon R7 260X and the Radeon RX 550X have the same base clock speed. Despite this, the Radeon RX 550X has a slightly higher boost clock speed: the maximum frequency the chip can reach if power delivery and thermals allow.

Furthermore, the spec sheet for both these GPUs show that the Radeon RX 550X has significantly more memory with 4 GiB of memory compared to 2 GiB. Lots of memory is good when playing at high resolutions or with many monitors.

In addition, the Radeon RX 550X has a significantly lower TDP at 50 W when compared to the Radeon R7 260X at 115 W. This is not a measure of performance, but rather the amount of heat generated by the chip when running at its highest speed.

In conclusion, all specs and GPU benchmarks considered, will recommend the Radeon R7 260X over the Radeon RX 550X.
