Radeon R7 260X vs Radeon R9 270 specs and performance
For gaming, the Radeon R9 270 graphics card is better than the Radeon R7 260X in our tests.
In our comparison, the Radeon R7 260X has a slightly higher core clock speed. The core clock speed (or base speed) is the frequency at which the GPU core runs. This metric makes sense when comparing GPUs of a similar architecture or generation. In addition, the Radeon R7 260X also has a slightly higher boost clock speed. The boost clock speed is the frequency that the GPU core can reach if the temperature is low enough. The allows for higher performance in certain scenarios.
Furthermore, the spec sheet for both these GPUs show that they both have the same amount of memory at 2 GiB. Lots of memory is good when playing at high resolutions or with many monitors.
In addition, the Radeon R7 260X has a slightly lower TDP at 115 W when compared to the Radeon R9 270 at 150 W. TDP (Thermal Design Power) measures total heat output from the chip.
In terms of raw gaming performance in our GPU benchmark, the Radeon R9 270 is better than the Radeon R7 260X.
