Radeon R7 240 vs Radeon Vega 3 specs and performance

For gaming, the Radeon Vega 3 graphics card is better than the Radeon R7 240 in our tests.

The Radeon R7 240 has a significantly higher core clock speed. The core clock speed (or base speed) is the frequency at which the GPU core runs. This metric makes sense when comparing GPUs of a similar architecture or generation. Despite this, the Radeon Vega 3 has a slightly higher boost clock speed. This is a frequency that can be reached if the GPU is cooled sufficiently and has enough power.

In addition, the Radeon Vega 3 has a significantly lower TDP at 15 W when compared to the Radeon R7 240 at 30 W. Heat output doesn't match power consumption directly but, it's a good estimate.

In terms of raw gaming performance in our GPU benchmark, the Radeon Vega 3 is better than the Radeon R7 240.
