Radeon R7 240 vs Radeon R7 260X specs and performance
For gaming, the Radeon R7 260X graphics card is better than the Radeon R7 240 in our tests.
The Radeon R7 260X has a significantly higher core clock speed. This is the frequency at which the graphics core is running at. While not necessarily an indicator of overall performance, this metric can be useful when comparing two GPUs based on the same architecture. In addition, the Radeon R7 260X also has a slightly higher boost clock speed: the maximum frequency the chip can reach if power delivery and thermals allow.
Next up, in terms of GPU memory, they both have the same amount of memory at 2 GiB. Memory size doesn't directly affect performance, but too little memory will certainly degrade gaming performance.
In addition, the Radeon R7 240 has a significantly lower TDP at 30 W when compared to the Radeon R7 260X at 115 W. Heat output doesn't match power consumption directly but, it's a good estimate.
In terms of raw gaming performance in our GPU benchmark, the Radeon R7 260X is better than the Radeon R7 240.
