Radeon HD 7990 vs Radeon RX 6500M specs and performance
For gaming, the Radeon HD 7990 graphics card is better than the Radeon RX 6500M in our tests.
Our database shows that the Radeon RX 6500M has a significantly higher core clock speed. This is the frequency at which the graphics core is running at. While not necessarily an indicator of overall performance, this metric can be useful when comparing two GPUs based on the same architecture. In addition, the Radeon RX 6500M also has a significantly higher boost clock speed. This is a frequency that can be reached if the GPU is cooled sufficiently and has enough power.
Furthermore, the spec sheet for both these GPUs show that the Radeon RX 6500M has slightly more memory with 4 GiB of memory compared to 3 GiB. Lots of memory is good when playing at high resolutions or with many monitors.
In addition, the Radeon RX 6500M has a significantly lower TDP at 50 W when compared to the Radeon HD 7990 at 375 W. Heat output doesn't match power consumption directly but, it's a good estimate.
According to the results of the hardwareDB benchmark utility, the Radeon HD 7990 is faster than the Radeon RX 6500M.
