Quadro RTX 4000 vs Radeon HD 7990 specs and performance
In our benchmarks, the Quadro RTX 4000 beats the Radeon HD 7990 in gaming performance.
In our comparison, the Quadro RTX 4000 has a slightly higher core clock speed. The core clock speed (or base speed) is the frequency at which the GPU core runs. This metric makes sense when comparing GPUs of a similar architecture or generation. In addition, the Quadro RTX 4000 also has a significantly higher boost clock speed: the maximum frequency the chip can reach if power delivery and thermals allow.
Furthermore, the spec sheet for both these GPUs show that the Quadro RTX 4000 has significantly more memory with 8 GiB of memory compared to 3 GiB. If you're planning at playing games at high resolutions with high-quality textures, you will need a lot of memory.
In addition, the Quadro RTX 4000 has a significantly lower TDP at 160 W when compared to the Radeon HD 7990 at 375 W. Heat output doesn't match power consumption directly but, it's a good estimate.
In terms of raw gaming performance in our GPU benchmark, the Quadro RTX 4000 is better than the Radeon HD 7990.
