Phenom II X6 1090T vs Pentium Gold G7400 specs and performance

Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Pentium Gold G7400 performs better than the Phenom II X6 1090T. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Phenom II X6 1090T in all gaming tests too.

With info from our database, we find that the Phenom II X6 1090T has significantly more cores with 6 cores whereas the Pentium Gold G7400 has 2 cores. It also has more threads than the Pentium Gold G7400. With our hardware info, we find that the Pentium Gold G7400 has a slightly higher clock speed than the Phenom II X6 1090T. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Phenom II X6 1090T has slightly more L2 cache than the Pentium Gold G7400. However, both these chips have the same amount of L3 cache.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Phenom II X6 1090T has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
