When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Xeon E5-2687W has slightly more cores with 8 cores compared to the Phenom II X6 1055T that has 6 cores. It also has more threads than the Phenom II X6 1055T. With our hardware info, we find that the Xeon E5-2687W has a slightly higher clock speed than the Phenom II X6 1055T. The info from our database shows that the Phenom II X6 1055T has more L2 cache than the Xeon E5-2687W. Despite this, the Xeon E5-2687W has significantly more L3 cache compared to the Phenom II X6 1055T.

The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. For instance, the Phenom II X6 1055T has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
