Phenom II X4 B50 vs Xeon L5520 specs and performance

In our benchmarks, the Phenom II X4 B50 beats the Xeon L5520 in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Xeon L5520 in all gaming tests too.

Info from our database shows that they both have the same core count but the Xeon L5520 has more threads. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Phenom II X4 B50 has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Xeon L5520. In terms of cache, the Phenom II X4 B50 has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Xeon L5520. Despite this, the Xeon L5520 has slightly more L3 cache compared to the Phenom II X4 B50.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Phenom II X4 B50 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
