Phenom II X4 965 vs Xeon X5687 specs and performance

In our benchmarks, the Xeon X5687 beats the Phenom II X4 965 in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Phenom II X4 965 in all gaming tests too.

Our spec comparison shows that they have an identical amount of cores and the same number of threads. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Xeon X5687 has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Phenom II X4 965. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Phenom II X4 965 has significantly more L2 cache than the Xeon X5687. Despite this, the Xeon X5687 has significantly more L3 cache compared to the Phenom II X4 965.

The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. For instance, the Phenom II X4 965 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
