Pentium Silver N5000 vs Core 2 Duo E7500 specs and performance

Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Pentium Silver N5000 performs better than the Core 2 Duo E7500. Despite this, the Core 2 Duo E7500 has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.

When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Pentium Silver N5000 has significantly more cores with 4 cores compared to the Core 2 Duo E7500 that has 2 cores. It also has more threads than the Core 2 Duo E7500. With our hardware info, we find that the Core 2 Duo E7500 has a significantly higher clock speed than the Pentium Silver N5000. A Pentium Silver N5000 CPU outputs less heat than a Core 2 Duo E7500 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Pentium Silver N5000 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
