Pentium Silver J5040 vs Core i5-1235U specs and performance
In our benchmarks, the Core i5-1235U beats the Pentium Silver J5040 in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Pentium Silver J5040 in all gaming tests too.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Core i5-1235U has significantly more cores with 10 cores compared to the Pentium Silver J5040 that has 4 cores. It also has more threads than the Pentium Silver J5040. Our comparison shows that the Pentium Silver J5040 has a significantly higher clock speed compared to the Core i5-1235U. A Pentium Silver J5040 CPU outputs less heat than a Core i5-1235U CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.
The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. For instance, the Pentium Silver J5040 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
