Pentium Silver J5040 vs Athlon Silver 7120U benchmarks
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Athlon Silver 7120U is faster than the Pentium Silver J5040. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Pentium Silver J5040 in all gaming tests too.
With info from our database, we find that the Pentium Silver J5040 has significantly more cores with 4 cores whereas the Athlon Silver 7120U has 2 cores. It also has more threads than the Athlon Silver 7120U. Our comparison shows that the Athlon Silver 7120U has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Pentium Silver J5040. A Pentium Silver J5040 CPU outputs less heat than a Athlon Silver 7120U CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.
The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. For instance, the Pentium Silver J5040 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
