Pentium Gold G6400 vs Xeon E5-520 specs and performance

Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Pentium Gold G6400 performs better than the Xeon E5-520. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Xeon E5-520 in all gaming tests too.

With info from our database, we find that the Xeon E5-520 has significantly more cores with 4 cores whereas the Pentium Gold G6400 has 2 cores. But they both have the same number of threads. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Pentium Gold G6400 has a significantly higher clock speed compared to the Xeon E5-520. A Pentium Gold G6400 CPU outputs less heat than a Xeon E5-520 CPU because of its slightly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The info from our database shows that the Xeon E5-520 has more L2 cache than the Pentium Gold G6400. The Xeon E5-520 also has significantly more L3 cache.

The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. Indeed, the Pentium Gold G6400 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
