Pentium Gold G6400 vs Core i7-2820QM benchmarks
In our benchmarks, the Core i7-2820QM beats the Pentium Gold G6400 in overall performance. Despite this, the Pentium Gold G6400 has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Core i7-2820QM has significantly more cores than the Pentium Gold G6400. Indeed, the Core i7-2820QM has 4 cores compared to 2 cores found in the Pentium Gold G6400. It also has more threads than the Pentium Gold G6400. With our hardware info, we find that the Pentium Gold G6400 has a significantly higher clock speed than the Core i7-2820QM. The Core i7-2820QM outputs less heat than Pentium Gold G6400 thanks to a slightly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.
The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. Indeed, the Pentium Gold G6400 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
