Pentium Gold G5400 vs Xeon X5470 specs and performance

In our benchmarks, the Xeon X5470 beats the Pentium Gold G5400 in overall performance. Despite this, the Pentium Gold G5400 has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.

When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Xeon X5470 has significantly more cores with 4 cores compared to the Pentium Gold G5400 that has 2 cores. But they both have the same number of threads. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Pentium Gold G5400 has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Xeon X5470. A Pentium Gold G5400 CPU outputs less heat than a Xeon X5470 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Xeon X5470 has significantly more L2 cache than the Pentium Gold G5400

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Pentium Gold G5400 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
