Pentium G4560 vs Phenom II X4 B50 specs and performance

In our benchmarks, the Pentium G4560 beats the Phenom II X4 B50 in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Phenom II X4 B50 in all gaming tests too.

When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Phenom II X4 B50 has significantly more cores with 4 cores compared to the Pentium G4560 that has 2 cores. But they both have the same number of threads. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Pentium G4560 has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Phenom II X4 B50. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Phenom II X4 B50 has significantly more L2 cache than the Pentium G4560. The Phenom II X4 B50 also has significantly more L3 cache.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Pentium G4560 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
