Pentium G4520 vs Athlon X4 870K specs and performance
Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Pentium G4520 performs better than the Athlon X4 870K. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Athlon X4 870K in all gaming tests too.
When comparing these CPUs we notice that they have the same number of cores but the Athlon X4 870K has more threads. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Athlon X4 870K has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Pentium G4520. A Pentium G4520 CPU outputs less heat than a Athlon X4 870K CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The info from our database shows that the Athlon X4 870K has more L2 cache than the Pentium G4520
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Pentium G4520 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
