Pentium G4520 vs Athlon II X4 640 benchmarks
Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Pentium G4520 performs better than the Athlon II X4 640. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Athlon II X4 640 in all gaming tests too.
In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Athlon II X4 640 has significantly more cores than the Pentium G4520. Indeed, the Athlon II X4 640 has 4 cores compared to 2 cores found in the Pentium G4520. It also has more threads than the Pentium G4520. With our hardware info, we find that the Pentium G4520 has a slightly higher clock speed than the Athlon II X4 640. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Athlon II X4 640 has significantly more L2 cache than the Pentium G4520
The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. For instance, the Pentium G4520 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
