Pentium G2120 vs Core 2 Quad Q6600 specs and performance
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Core 2 Quad Q6600 is faster than the Pentium G2120. Despite this, the Pentium G2120 has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Core 2 Quad Q6600 has significantly more cores with 4 cores compared to the Pentium G2120 that has 2 cores. It also has more threads than the Pentium G2120. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Pentium G2120 has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Core 2 Quad Q6600. A Pentium G2120 CPU outputs less heat than a Core 2 Quad Q6600 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Pentium G2120 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
