GeForce RTX 4090 vs GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER specs and performance
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark, the GeForce RTX 4090 GPU is faster than the GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER in gaming.
The GeForce RTX 4090 has a slightly higher core clock speed. The core clock speed (or base speed) is the frequency at which the GPU core runs. This metric makes sense when comparing GPUs of a similar architecture or generation. In addition, the GeForce RTX 4090 also has a slightly higher boost clock speed: the maximum frequency the chip can reach if power delivery and thermals allow.
Next up, in terms of GPU memory, the GeForce RTX 4090 has significantly more memory with 24 GiB of memory compared to 16 GiB. Memory size doesn't directly affect performance, but too little memory will certainly degrade gaming performance.
In addition, the GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER has a slightly lower TDP at 340 W when compared to the GeForce RTX 4090 at 450 W. This is not a measure of performance, but rather the amount of heat generated by the chip when running at its highest speed.
In terms of raw gaming performance in our GPU benchmark, the GeForce RTX 4090 is better than the GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER.
