GeForce RTX 4070 vs Radeon RX 7700 XT specs and performance
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark, the Radeon RX 7700 XT GPU is faster than the GeForce RTX 4070 in gaming.
Our database shows that the GeForce RTX 4070 has a slightly higher core clock speed. This is the frequency at which the graphics core is running at. While not necessarily an indicator of overall performance, this metric can be useful when comparing two GPUs based on the same architecture. Despite this, the Radeon RX 7700 XT has a slightly higher boost clock speed. The boost clock speed is the frequency that the GPU core can reach if the temperature is low enough. The allows for higher performance in certain scenarios.
Furthermore, the spec sheet for both these GPUs show that they both have the same amount of memory at 12 GiB. Memory size doesn't directly affect performance, but too little memory will certainly degrade gaming performance.
In addition, the Radeon RX 7700 XT has a slightly lower TDP at 245 W when compared to the GeForce RTX 4070 at 300 W. TDP (Thermal Design Power) measures total heat output from the chip.
In conclusion, all specs and GPU benchmarks considered, will recommend the Radeon RX 7700 XT over the GeForce RTX 4070.
