GeForce RTX 3060 vs Radeon RX 7900 XT comparison
For gaming, the Radeon RX 7900 XT graphics card is better than the GeForce RTX 3060 in our tests.
The Radeon RX 7900 XT has a slightly higher core clock speed. This is the frequency at which the graphics core is running at. While not necessarily an indicator of overall performance, this metric can be useful when comparing two GPUs based on the same architecture. In addition, the Radeon RX 7900 XT also has a slightly higher boost clock speed. This is a frequency that can be reached if the GPU is cooled sufficiently and has enough power.
Furthermore, the spec sheet for both these GPUs show that the Radeon RX 7900 XT has significantly more memory with 20 GiB of memory compared to 12 GiB. Lots of memory is good when playing at high resolutions or with many monitors.
In addition, the GeForce RTX 3060 has a significantly lower TDP at 170 W when compared to the Radeon RX 7900 XT at 315 W. TDP (Thermal Design Power) measures total heat output from the chip.
In conclusion, all specs and GPU benchmarks considered, will recommend the Radeon RX 7900 XT over the GeForce RTX 3060.
