GeForce RTX 3060 vs GeForce RTX 4090 D specs and performance
In our benchmarks, the GeForce RTX 4090 D beats the GeForce RTX 3060 in gaming performance.
Our database shows that the GeForce RTX 4090 D has a significantly higher core clock speed. The core clock speed (or base speed) is the frequency at which the GPU core runs. This metric makes sense when comparing GPUs of a similar architecture or generation. In addition, the GeForce RTX 4090 D also has a slightly higher boost clock speed. The boost clock speed is the frequency that the GPU core can reach if the temperature is low enough. The allows for higher performance in certain scenarios.
As stated by the manufacturer, the GeForce RTX 4090 D has significantly more memory with 24 GiB of memory compared to 12 GiB. Memory size doesn't directly affect performance, but too little memory will certainly degrade gaming performance.
In addition, the GeForce RTX 3060 has a significantly lower TDP at 170 W when compared to the GeForce RTX 4090 D at 425 W. This is not a measure of performance, but rather the amount of heat generated by the chip when running at its highest speed.
In terms of raw gaming performance in our GPU benchmark, the GeForce RTX 4090 D is better than the GeForce RTX 3060.
