GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER vs GeForce GTX 780 specs and performance

For gaming, the GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER graphics card is better than the GeForce GTX 780 in our tests.

The GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER has a significantly higher core clock speed. The core clock speed (or base speed) is the frequency at which the GPU core runs. This metric makes sense when comparing GPUs of a similar architecture or generation. In addition, the GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER also has a significantly higher boost clock speed: the maximum frequency the chip can reach if power delivery and thermals allow.

Next up, in terms of GPU memory, the GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER has slightly more memory with 8 GiB of memory compared to 6 GiB. Memory size doesn't directly affect performance, but too little memory will certainly degrade gaming performance.

In addition, both the GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER and the GeForce GTX 780 have an identical TDP. Heat output doesn't match power consumption directly but, it's a good estimate.

In conclusion, all specs and GPU benchmarks considered, will recommend the GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER over the GeForce GTX 780.
