GeForce RTX 2070 Max-Q vs Radeon RX 5600 XT specs and performance
In our benchmarks, the Radeon RX 5600 XT beats the GeForce RTX 2070 Max-Q in gaming performance.
Our database shows that the Radeon RX 5600 XT has a slightly higher core clock speed. The core clock speed (or base speed) is the frequency at which the GPU core runs. This metric makes sense when comparing GPUs of a similar architecture or generation. In addition, the Radeon RX 5600 XT also has a slightly higher boost clock speed: the maximum frequency the chip can reach if power delivery and thermals allow.
Furthermore, the spec sheet for both these GPUs show that the GeForce RTX 2070 Max-Q has slightly more memory with 8 GiB of memory compared to 6 GiB. Lots of memory is good when playing at high resolutions or with many monitors.
In addition, the GeForce RTX 2070 Max-Q has a significantly lower TDP at 80 W when compared to the Radeon RX 5600 XT at 150 W. This is not a measure of performance, but rather the amount of heat generated by the chip when running at its highest speed.
In conclusion, all specs and GPU benchmarks considered, will recommend the Radeon RX 5600 XT over the GeForce RTX 2070 Max-Q.
