GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER vs GeForce RTX 2080 Max-Q benchmarks
For gaming, the GeForce RTX 2080 Max-Q graphics card is better than the GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER in our tests.
Our database shows that the GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER has a significantly higher core clock speed. The core clock speed (or base speed) is the frequency at which the GPU core runs. This metric makes sense when comparing GPUs of a similar architecture or generation. In addition, the GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER also has a significantly higher boost clock speed. The boost clock speed is the frequency that the GPU core can reach if the temperature is low enough. The allows for higher performance in certain scenarios.
Furthermore, the spec sheet for both these GPUs show that they both have the same amount of memory at 8 GiB. Memory size doesn't directly affect performance, but too little memory will certainly degrade gaming performance.
In addition, the GeForce RTX 2080 Max-Q has a significantly lower TDP at 90 W when compared to the GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER at 175 W. TDP (Thermal Design Power) measures total heat output from the chip.
In conclusion, all specs and GPU benchmarks considered, will recommend the GeForce RTX 2080 Max-Q over the GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER.
