GeForce GTX 1660 vs Radeon RX 470 specs and performance

According to the hardwareDB Benchmark, the GeForce GTX 1660 GPU is faster than the Radeon RX 470 in gaming.

In our comparison, the GeForce GTX 1660 has a significantly higher core clock speed. This is the frequency at which the graphics core is running at. While not necessarily an indicator of overall performance, this metric can be useful when comparing two GPUs based on the same architecture. In addition, the GeForce GTX 1660 also has a significantly higher boost clock speed: the maximum frequency the chip can reach if power delivery and thermals allow.

Furthermore, the spec sheet for both these GPUs show that the Radeon RX 470 has slightly more memory with 8 GiB of memory compared to 6 GiB. If you're planning at playing games at high resolutions with high-quality textures, you will need a lot of memory.

In addition, both the GeForce GTX 1660 and the Radeon RX 470 have an identical TDP. Heat output doesn't match power consumption directly but, it's a good estimate.

In terms of raw gaming performance in our GPU benchmark, the GeForce GTX 1660 is better than the Radeon RX 470.
