GeForce GTX 1080 vs GeForce RTX 5080 specs and performance
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark, the GeForce RTX 5080 GPU is faster than the GeForce GTX 1080 in gaming.
Our database shows that the GeForce RTX 5080 has a slightly higher core clock speed. The core clock speed (or base speed) is the frequency at which the GPU core runs. This metric makes sense when comparing GPUs of a similar architecture or generation. In addition, the GeForce RTX 5080 also has a significantly higher boost clock speed: the maximum frequency the chip can reach if power delivery and thermals allow.
As stated by the manufacturer, the GeForce RTX 5080 has significantly more memory with 16 GiB of memory compared to 8 GiB. Lots of memory is good when playing at high resolutions or with many monitors.
In addition, the GeForce GTX 1080 has a significantly lower TDP at 180 W when compared to the GeForce RTX 5080 at 360 W. TDP (Thermal Design Power) measures total heat output from the chip.
In conclusion, all specs and GPU benchmarks considered, will recommend the GeForce RTX 5080 over the GeForce GTX 1080.
