GeForce GTX 1080 vs Arc A770 specs and performance

For gaming, the Arc A770 graphics card is better than the GeForce GTX 1080 in our tests.

In our comparison, the GeForce GTX 1080 has a significantly higher core clock speed. The core clock speed (or base speed) is the frequency at which the GPU core runs. This metric makes sense when comparing GPUs of a similar architecture or generation. In addition, the GeForce GTX 1080 also has a slightly higher boost clock speed: the maximum frequency the chip can reach if power delivery and thermals allow.

Next up, in terms of GPU memory, the Arc A770 has significantly more memory with 16 GiB of memory compared to 8 GiB. Lots of memory is good when playing at high resolutions or with many monitors.

In addition, the Arc A770 has a significantly lower TDP at 120 W when compared to the GeForce GTX 1080 at 180 W. This is not a measure of performance, but rather the amount of heat generated by the chip when running at its highest speed.

According to the results of the hardwareDB benchmark utility, the Arc A770 is faster than the GeForce GTX 1080.
