GeForce GTX 1080 Ti vs GeForce RTX 4070 specs and performance
In our benchmarks, the GeForce RTX 4070 beats the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti in gaming performance.
Our database shows that the GeForce RTX 4070 has a significantly higher core clock speed. The core clock speed (or base speed) is the frequency at which the GPU core runs. This metric makes sense when comparing GPUs of a similar architecture or generation. In addition, the GeForce RTX 4070 also has a significantly higher boost clock speed: the maximum frequency the chip can reach if power delivery and thermals allow.
Furthermore, the spec sheet for both these GPUs show that the GeForce RTX 4070 has slightly more memory with 12 GiB of memory compared to 11 GiB. Memory size doesn't directly affect performance, but too little memory will certainly degrade gaming performance.
In addition, the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti has a slightly lower TDP at 250 W when compared to the GeForce RTX 4070 at 300 W. Heat output doesn't match power consumption directly but, it's a good estimate.
In conclusion, all specs and GPU benchmarks considered, will recommend the GeForce RTX 4070 over the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti.
