GeForce GTX 1070 Max-Q vs GeForce RTX 3050 specs and performance
In our benchmarks, the GeForce RTX 3050 beats the GeForce GTX 1070 Max-Q in gaming performance.
Our database shows that the GeForce RTX 3050 has a slightly higher core clock speed. This is the frequency at which the graphics core is running at. While not necessarily an indicator of overall performance, this metric can be useful when comparing two GPUs based on the same architecture. In addition, the GeForce RTX 3050 also has a slightly higher boost clock speed. This is a frequency that can be reached if the GPU is cooled sufficiently and has enough power.
Furthermore, the spec sheet for both these GPUs show that they both have the same amount of memory at 8 GiB. Memory size doesn't directly affect performance, but too little memory will certainly degrade gaming performance.
In addition, the GeForce GTX 1070 Max-Q has a significantly lower TDP at 90 W when compared to the GeForce RTX 3050 at 130 W. Heat output doesn't match power consumption directly but, it's a good estimate.
In terms of raw gaming performance in our GPU benchmark, the GeForce RTX 3050 is better than the GeForce GTX 1070 Max-Q.
