FX-9800P vs Core 2 Duo E7200 specs and performance

Our benchmark analysis concludes that the FX-9800P performs better than the Core 2 Duo E7200. Despite this, the Core 2 Duo E7200 has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.

With info from our database, we find that the FX-9800P has significantly more cores with 4 cores whereas the Core 2 Duo E7200 has 2 cores. It also has more threads than the Core 2 Duo E7200. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the FX-9800P has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Core 2 Duo E7200. In terms of cache, the Core 2 Duo E7200 has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the FX-9800P

The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. For instance, the FX-9800P has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
