FX-9800P vs Celeron E3500 benchmarks

Our benchmark analysis concludes that the FX-9800P performs better than the Celeron E3500. Despite this, the Celeron E3500 has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.

When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the FX-9800P has significantly more cores with 4 cores compared to the Celeron E3500 that has 2 cores. It also has more threads than the Celeron E3500. In terms of clock speed, the FX-9800P and Celeron E3500 are identical in this regard. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the FX-9800P has significantly more L2 cache than the Celeron E3500

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the FX-9800P has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
