FX-8320 vs Core i7-4900MQ benchmarks

According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the FX-8320 is faster than the Core i7-4900MQ. Despite this, the Core i7-4900MQ has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.

Our spec comparison shows that they have an identical amount of cores and the same number of threads. With our hardware info, we find that the FX-8320 has a slightly higher clock speed than the Core i7-4900MQ. Also, the FX-8320 has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Core i7-4900MQ outputs less heat than FX-8320 thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the FX-8320 has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Core i7-4900MQ. However, both these chips have the same amount of L3 cache.

The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. Indeed, the FX-8320 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
