FX-8320 vs Core i5-8300H comparison

Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Core i5-8300H performs better than the FX-8320. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the FX-8320 in all gaming tests too.

When comparing these CPUs we notice that they have the same number of cores and the same number of threads. Our comparison shows that the FX-8320 has a significantly higher clock speed compared to the Core i5-8300H. The Core i5-8300H outputs less heat than FX-8320 thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the FX-8320 has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i5-8300H. Despite this, the Core i5-8300H has significantly more L3 cache compared to the FX-8320.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the FX-8320 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
