FX-8300 vs Xeon X5650 benchmarks
In our benchmarks, the FX-8300 beats the Xeon X5650 in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Xeon X5650 in all gaming tests too.
With info from our database, we find that the Xeon X5650 has significantly more cores with 6 cores whereas the FX-8300 has 4 cores. It also has more threads than the FX-8300. Our comparison shows that the FX-8300 has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Xeon X5650. The info from our database shows that the FX-8300 has more L2 cache than the Xeon X5650. Despite this, the Xeon X5650 has significantly more L3 cache compared to the FX-8300.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the FX-8300 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
