FX-8300 vs Xeon E5-620 comparison
In our benchmarks, the Xeon E5-620 beats the FX-8300 in overall performance. Despite this, the FX-8300 has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
When comparing these CPUs we notice that they have the same number of cores and the same number of threads. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the FX-8300 has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Xeon E5-620. Also, the FX-8300 has a significantly higher turbo speed. The Xeon E5-620 outputs less heat than FX-8300 thanks to a slightly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the FX-8300 has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Xeon E5-620. The FX-8300 also has significantly more L3 cache.
The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. Indeed, the FX-8300 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
