FX-8300 vs Pentium Gold G6405 benchmarks
In our benchmarks, the FX-8300 beats the Pentium Gold G6405 in overall performance. Despite this, the Pentium Gold G6405 has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the FX-8300 has significantly more cores than the Pentium Gold G6405. Indeed, the FX-8300 has 4 cores compared to 2 cores found in the Pentium Gold G6405. It also has more threads than the Pentium Gold G6405. With our hardware info, we find that the Pentium Gold G6405 has a slightly higher clock speed than the FX-8300. The Pentium Gold G6405 outputs less heat than FX-8300 thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.
Modern CPUs generally have more logical cores than physical cores, this means that each core is split into multiple virtual cores, improving efficiency for parallel workloads. Indeed, the FX-8300 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
